Serpent

24” x 30”
Acrylic paint, Canvas
4/8/2012

This piece was for my Painting II class an exercise in painting something that does not exist. The challenge was in giving dimension and structure to a fictional creature. I chose to paint a dragon because I’m fascinated with Asian culture. I wanted to use a complementary color palette to be pleasing to the eye and chose a combination of more vibrant and dark tones so the dragon looks as if it is coming toward the viewer.
